Linden Relief Effort
This announcement marks the official launching of the joint humanitarian effort by Linden Fund USA & the Linden Relief Effort Committee to ease the suffering of our loved ones back home in Linden.
We’ve all seen the photos! We’ve all read the news accounts of the electric rate hike protest, the shooting of unarmed protesters and its aftermath. Now is the time to act and show our compassion and commitment to our hometown - Linden!
The Linden Fund USA and The Linden Relief Effort committee agreed to launch a joint relief drive that will provide much needed food for our people, especially the young and the elderly. We have mobilized around the courage and the generosity and unselfishness of our people back home. From all reports, many with the means, including the local shops, have been donating their food supplies to ensure that the people of Linden are provided with a hot meal; but supplies are running low, so now is the time for us to join in this humanitarian effort!
Many of you attended our first Relief event last Wednesday, July 25, at Rose Garden in Brooklyn and through your most generous donations, we raised $3,000 US at that event. We THANK YOU for opening your hearts and your wallets to this most worthy cause. We also discovered that we even had people from our sister Caribbean countries of Grenada and Trinidad in our midst, also contributing in a generous way. The Regional Office is coordinating the distributing and feeding program. I encourage you to support this effort.
